Chapter 01

Dig where you cannot see without hitting what is down there

If you need to dig around a property and do not know what is under it, a normal job can turn into an emergency fast. Gas lines, water mains and a few things nobody drew on a map all share the same ground. Vacuum excavation takes the dirt out without a sharp piece of metal ever touching them.

A vac truck or vac trailer pairs a high pressure water jet with an industrial vacuum. The water breaks the soil up, and the vacuum pulls the slurry into a tank on the truck. Nothing mechanical touches what is underground, so everything vulnerable stays intact.

That makes it the right tool for tight lots, active utility corridors, and ground close to foundations or finished landscaping. If you are not sure what is down there, this is how you find out.

Six jobs the vac truck does for Yakima crews

Potholing, also called soft digging, is the water-and-vacuum dig that exposes buried lines so you know exactly where they run instead of striking one and paying to fix it. Line locating works the same way for water, sewer, gas and other utility runs, and it ties straight into our leak detection and sewer line work, since finding the line is usually step one anyway.

For utility work, the truck gets to a line for a new service install or a repair without tearing up the lot, and we clean the hole and backfill it quickly. That matters most on finished properties and commercial sites. Debris removal is the same idea in reverse: wet or dry material, sludge and standing water come out of places you cannot reach, and the water stream thins out anything stubborn.

Manhole cleanouts clear the grit and sediment that build up and block access for maintenance, so the drainage runs like it should and the structure can be inspected. Gutter cleanouts handle the sediment and debris left after spring runoff or high winds, with no scraping and no damage to the roof surface.

Chapter 03

Who calls for the truck, and why Joe's crew runs it

Most rentals come from contractors who need utility lines exposed before they dig. Excavation companies call when they have to work in a tight area. Property managers call us for drainage work and cleanout maintenance. We also bring the truck to our own commercial plumbing jobs when a line needs uncovering. Municipal crews use it too.

Most people go with an operated rental because it costs less than lining up equipment and finding somebody licensed to run it. Joe Ross grew up in the valley and knows the soil, the utility layouts and the permitting process in Yakima County. We are also a full plumbing company, so if a repair turns up while we are exposing the line, the same crew fixes it instead of you coordinating a second contractor.

Before you book

Vac truck rental questions

Exposing a line is usually where the job starts. From there our sewer line and gas line crews take over, and on commercial plumbing jobs the truck often rides along.

Who runs it

Do I operate the equipment or do you?

We do. Our vac truck rentals come with a trained operator, so you do not need a CDL or your own insurance on the equipment. Just tell us what needs done and we run it.

Near live lines

Is vacuum excavation safe around gas and electrical lines?

Yes. No digging equipment touches the soil near the utility, so the odds of a strike drop way down compared to conventional excavation.
