Repiping in Yakima, WA: Replace Old Galvanized Pipe with PEX or Copper
Galvanized, polybutylene or tired copper comes out and PEX or copper goes in. For most homes the whole job takes about 2 to 5 days.
Chapter 01
Galvanized, polybutylene and tired copper: what old valley pipes are telling you
Plenty of older Yakima homes still run on galvanized steel supply pipe, and it hides until the signs get hard to ignore. Water that comes out brown or yellow can mean the pipes are corroding from the inside. Showers that feel like a trickle usually mean buildup or corrosion is choking the line. And if you are patching one leak after another, the system is wearing out.
Age is the other clue. Homes built before the 1980s may still have galvanized steel, lead or polybutylene piping, and those materials are known to fail over time and can raise health concerns. If your home is 30 to 40 years old, or you keep fighting leaks and pressure problems, a full repipe is often the smarter and more affordable choice in the long run than patching.

A whole home repipe, planned around your walls
Whole home repiping is exactly what it sounds like: every old water supply line in the house is replaced with PEX or copper. It starts with an inspection and a clear estimate up front. Local estimates are free, and the price you get never changes after the fact.
Then we plan the layout and install the new lines with as little disruption to your day as we can manage. House size, the number of bathrooms and where the old pipe runs, in the walls, ceilings or floors, all set the schedule. For most homes the whole job takes about 2 to 5 days. Patching drywall or tile afterward can stretch that a bit, and Joe goes over the full schedule with you before the crew starts so you know what happens on which day.

New lines bring back the pressure that old pipe took away. You also get cleaner water, since modern PEX or copper is not shedding rust into the tap, and you stop paying for repeat repairs. Updated plumbing is a real selling point when it is time to list the house, too.
A big job should not mean one big payment. We offer financing through Housecall Pro and Wisetack, and discounts for veterans, active and inactive duty, and seniors over 60. Call (509) 268-4012, Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm, and we will set up the estimate.

Behind the walls
Repipes our customers have lived through
If pipes are already leaking, start with leak detection to see how bad it is. A repipe often goes hand in hand with a new tank, so ask about water heaters, or with remodeling while the walls are open.
